When I started in practice I was 23 and full of dreams with huge plans.
And like Iron Mike Tyson once said...
"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
Well at 24 I got punched in the mouth.
I was working in a practice where the owner had clinical experience but no business experience.
Well, he had a business. But it wasn't successful.
By any means.
I was working 7 days a week 'hustling' to pay the bills.
I had worked my a#s off studying for 5 years...
And now I was contemplating getting a job at the local super market at night just to pay rent on my home.
My girlfriend a the time (now wife) were sick of it.
Sick of struggling. Sick of working so hard but getting nowhere.
And sick of not having the success we deserved.
So we decided to pack up shop and try find someone who could actually teach us how to be successful in practice.
We were young, we were new, but it felt like why couldn't we just find someone who knew what they were doing and learn from them?!
So we travelled overseas, we looked at all these big job offers...
Big money jobs...
People promising the world...
But it just didn't feel right. Something was missing.
So we decide to start our own practice.
We took a loan from her mother to buy the practice we were originally working in because the owner couldn't keep it if he didn't have us as slaves.
Now at this point, we had to make it work.
We were working on borrowed time and money.
Our friends were already picking up speed, making money, helping people.
Progressing.
And there was us. Stuck.
Starting again in a practice already proven to be a failure.
But we had goals, we had drive, and we knew we could do it.
So I started really 'hustling'.
I would spend all night, every night, learning everything I could about online marketing, sales, practice development, treatment plans...
How to run workshops, seminars, how to do lunch and learns, social media, google ads...
blogging...
You name it I've done it.
Within 3 months we had tripled the practice.
Within 8 months we had a second practice.
And within 2 years we had generated over $1,000,000 in revenue.
Fast forward to now.
We have 6 practitioners and 4 support staff.
We have a great income.
We make a difference helping 100's of people a week improve their health.
I don’t work crazy hours and wake up every morning with an appointment book full of patients keen to work with me.
I still work hard but I do it on my terms.
Because I have a system.
